Why IVF....? After the removal of my left tube, my doctor did advise fertility  will be reduced. He did mention some people state the possibility of the one fallopian tube crossing over to capture eggs released from either ovary. Still there was a chance fertility  could be reduced by as much as 30%. DH and I had discussed IVF and the pros and Cons of it. The side effects and stress from the hormone injections was all over the internet and the whole procedure looked daunting. Perhaps we could try the natural way for a few months and if there was no success, we could proceed to IVF,,,,,,,,!!!  We went for consultations with potential clinics in Nigeria and the UK.  Let me just say I had a terrible experience in both countries. In Nigeria the clinic tested for STDs and all was fine. That was until I volunteered for a Pap test.....I received a call many days later asking me to visit the clinic for the test results. I knew some thing was wrong when they refused to give the resu

End of Week 3 Update So I have not kept up with my diary and I didn't go to the gym in the 2nd week...However, my eating habits changed and I no longer have late night dinners...Fast forward to week 3, i went back to the gym and spent an 1 hr on the treadmill...I was going to make up for the week lost :-).... I planned to do some weights as well, but after the 1hr on the treadmill, it was definitely time to go back home...Something prompted me to check my weight on the scale and lo and behold, I had lost 2KG!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe myself..I got off and tried my 2nd scale and still the same thing...Yayyyyy I was so elated...Geez i guess the work out (even if little) and less food sure does make a difference.. Went to my closet and tried on some of 'those' jeans and dresses and it didn't fit yet but i could definitely see I was getting closer... Went to the GYM for the rest of the week...Perhaps this Christmas, I would be a dress size smaller...Wouldn

Got on the scale today and nothing has changed since the beginning of the week...Can't believe i thought this was going to be easy....!!! I found myself eating lots of food after work out so that has to change next week... Went to the grocery store..picked up some fruits, oatmeal, some salad, lots of chicken...Figured i need to stock my fridge with healthy foods, that way when i feel the urge to eat, i can grab a healthy meal....But that doesn't take care of Take out meals....Hmmmm My DH has been cheering me up though..which is good...I met up with some friends this week and they commented on how chubby i had become...Marriage must be treating me good..one of my friends said...I knew that was a sarcastic statement...considering this was coming from my single friend with one of th

I was really tempted to just stay in bed but i remembered the conversation with DH when he clearly stated he didn't think I could wake up and go to the gym....Plus i remembered my weight and how it was important for me to be at a healthy weight when TTC...... And don't forget, Christmas is just a few weeks away and I certainly didn't want to attend those family gatherings and have everyone asking if I was pregnant or if I just gained weigh

Out Goes the Comfort Eating and In Comes the Exercise Last week, I was spending time with my lovely 4 year old niece and we watched videos of when she was a baby and how she cried so much...even videos of her first walk and she was intrigued and laughed so loud...We were having such a good time until I started viewing pictures of myself carrying her just couple of years back and noticed I was so slim...Even pictures of myself earlier this year just before my wedding were great....and I never even made a conscious effort to exercise back then…!!! Few days after, I proceeded to weigh myself and couldn't believe the numbers...I was sure the scale was broken...I went into another room and checked another scale..!! I took off all clothing and still the scale gave me crazy high numbers...I knew I was in trouble...How the hell did this happen? AHHH I would be damned if I became one of those married women that became way too fat after getting married while their husban

28 year old woman with an ectopic pregnancy dies of a heart attack after waiting two hours for an ambulance to arrive   Sabrina Stevenson, who did not know she was pregnant, had been complaining of abdominal pain, diarrhoea and vomiting and desperately called 999 from her home in north London.  An inquest held earlier this year heard that she had told her flatmate she wasn't feeling well and after getting worse throughout the day, called for an ambulance at 6.30pm. But a coroner told the court a series of 'inappropriate decisions, missed opportunities and system failures' meant that paramedics didn't arrive until 10.30pm and she died an hour later. The call came on the day after 'Black Friday', the last weekend before Christmas, and when ambulance crews are traditionally busier. Her distraught mother, Dawn Coventry, 50, has now slammed the London Ambulance Service for the delay, which the coroner said contributed to her death

Risk Factors of an Ectopic Pregnancy An ectopic pregnancy can happen to any woman, even if she has no known risk factors. Certain women are at a higher risk than others, though. One common risk factor is having had any condition or surgery that affected the fallopian tubes, such as: Surgery on your fallopian tubes to correct a problem or to reverse a tubal ligation (surgical sterilization ) . (Your risk may also be higher, though to a much smaller degree, if you've had other pelvic or abdominal surgery.) In the rare case that a woman becomes pregnant after a tubal ligation, the chance that the pregnancy is ectopic is 25 to 50 percent. A previous ectopic pregnancy. After one ectopic pregnancy, the chance of having another one is about 1 in 10. If you've had two or more ectopic pregnancies, the chance that you'll have another one is at least 1 in 4. What is an Ectopic Pregnancy? If a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, it's called an ectopic pregnancy. There's no way to transplant an ectopic pregnancy into your uterus, so ending the pregnancy is the only option. This means the egg will not develop into a baby, which can be devastating to the pregnant woman. While there are some risk factors, an ectopic pregnancy can happen to anyone. And, because it's potentially dangerous for you, it's important to recognize the early signs and get treatment as soon as possible. Occasionally, an ectopic pregnancy doesn't cause any noticeable symptoms and is only detected during routine pregnancy testing. However, most women do have symptoms, and these usually become apparent between week 5 and week 14 of pregnancy. They include: abnormal vaginal bleeding abdominal pain, typically just in one side, which can range from mild to severe an absent period (amenorrhoea), and other symptoms of pregnan

I n many cultures like the Nigerian one, having a baby is the next thing on the "to do list" right after getting married. I remember during my wedding early this year many of the prayer points centered around guests coming back to celebrate with us during the naming ceremonies of our baby in 9months time...I gladly said Amen in 99 folds...Anyone that knows me knows I love kids and always pray for twins every chance I get...Even when I was a little girl, I would run after female beggars carrying twins having heard that if I gave them money, I would have a better chance of having twins.....If only I knew what I know now!!! Few months before my wedding, after I announced I was engaged, many friends and even some family members will engage me to tell me of the benefits of getting pregnant before the wedding. Some said 'Lie down well for your husband o...so you can get pregnant now and that will put your mind at rest when you get married...(Yes, many
